Dr Athan Fox
CEO at Ever Resource and Chief Technology Officer at Regenerate

Athan is a PhD graduate in Chemistry from the University of Cambridge. He develops, scales up and commercialises technology to address the world’s challenges in sustainability, recycling and the circular economy. Athan’s philosophy in life is: “When only two paths are apparent, make a new one.” His experience includes chemistry, materials science, intellectual property and technology transfer. Athan has been involved in numerous funded research projects (Innovate UK; Horizon 2020; Eureka; and more) and was selected to represent the UK and the European Union technology sectors on numerous overseas government-led missions. Athan is at the forefront of a regenerative business philosophy, where technology contributes a net positive impact on the environment, with upcycling chemistry being a fundamental element in reaching this objective.

Miles Freeman
MD at Ever Resource and COO at Regenerate

Miles Freeman was formerly Operations Director at Ecobat Technologies, the world’s largest producer and recycler of lead. Over his career, he has amassed extensive marketing and commercial knowledge of the battery recycling market and operational delivery of various recycling technologies. As former CEO of Aurelius Environmental Ltd, Miles led the business strategy and business development to achieve £6m turnover within 3 years from starting up with a seed fund of less than £100,000. Miles is a chemistry and MBA graduate with considerable expertise in applying and securing Environment permits for battery recycling operations.

David Batstone
Board Member at Regenerate

Dave is the founder of Just Business, an impact company with three investment funds. He serves as the CEO of Regenerate Technology, Ever Resource’s parent company which he co-Founded with Mr Swindells, Mr Freeman and Dr Fox to establish and scale up game-changing technology for the recycling of batteries. He was an early investor and Board Director (now resigned) of American Battery Technology Company, and a Board Member at Hydra Energy and Relocity. Dave also has a PhD is Professor Emeritus of the University of San Francisco School of Management.

Andrejka Bernatova
Board Member at Regenerate

Accomplished executive, investor, entrepreneur and board member with a successful global career. Andrejka has experience in building and leading public organisations and private equity backed companies across multiple verticals of the infrastructure and energy industries. She is CEO and Board member of publicly traded ESGEN (Nasdaq: ESACU), founded on the belief that energy and infrastructure are is in the early phases of a decades-long transition to a low-carbon economy. As an entrepreneur, Andrejka was a part of the management team of PennTex Midstream (NASDAQ: PTXP), taking the company public in 2015 and ultimately successfully exiting via a sale to a large strategic player.

Theodore Swindells
Board Member at Regenerate

Ted has been a principal in his own firms and a partner in various venture capital, investment banking, and merchant banking firms in New York, San Francisco, and London. His specialty is financing and developing growth companies across a range of sectors, including agriculture, natural resources, energy, technology, and telecommunications. His ventures have represented more than $2 billion dollars in public and private equity and debt financings, mergers and acquisitions, and strategic alliances. He has held senior venture capital positions with Drexel Burnham Lambert, Rubicon Ventures, Hambrecht & Quist, and Woodman Kirkpatrick & Gilbreath. Ted sits on the Board of Regenerate Technology and has joined the team to build responsible, sustainable, game-changing products for the energy storage supply chain.

Professor Vasant Kumar, Director of Research at Ever Resource

Dr R Vasant Kumar, a retired Professor from the University of Cambridge, Department of Materials Science and Metallurgy, has international reputation for work relating to developing new, sustainable energy technologies. His research team has made significant contributions scientifically in the fields of energy, sustainability and materials characterisation; fuel cells; photocatalytic reactions; sensors; and battery recycling. He has successfully led many international projects in collaboration with partners in many countries including India, S Korea, China, Canada, USA, Poland, Oman, Malaysia, Holland, Bulgaria, Italy, Belgium, Slovakia and Germany. He has published over 350 papers, 18 patents, 7 Chapters in books and edited 1 book. Dr Kumar is the inventor of the background Intellectual Property on recycling of lead batteries (the REGENERATE process), and joined Ever Resource to support the technology development and commercialisation.

Dr Peter Knight, Technology Transfer Manager at Ever Resource

Peter is an experienced researcher, laboratory manager and technology transfer professional. He has trained students, at the Materials Science & Metallurgy Department of the University of Cambridge, to operate analytical instruments and to interpret data. Peter has also worked with innovative technology, particularly in the Biotech industry, and has project-managed research and development across all of Ever Resource’s project portfolio, including REGENERATE (hydrometallurgical processing of lead-acid battery paste).

Marie Georghiou, Technology Transfer Manager at Ever Resource

Marie is an experienced research commercialisation professional. With a rich and varied background in the world of technology transfer including patent management, contractual negotiations with collaborators, clients, licensees, and funders, and investment in university spinouts, Marie joined Ever Resource to work on building and facilitating commercial and legal relationships with our partners. Marie holds degrees in Law and in Languages from universities in France and the UK, and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Linguistics at the University of Nottingham.

Dr Rose Carmichael, Investment Manager at Ever Resource

Rose is a seasoned senior executive with global experience. Her diverse background is in engineering, operations, financial services, and senior C-level management and board of directors for both USA and international companies. Rose graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from Rochester Institute of Technology and an MBA with NYU and PhD from Ludwig Maximillian University of Munich. Rose was with Siemens AG as Executive Director of Strategic Planning & Internal Audit for the global operations in Munich Germany for 6 years. She moved to Siemens AG from Siemens Corporation in New York City where she was the Director of Business Development and responsible for mergers & acquisitions and strategic planning for USA expansion of Siemens business units. She started her career as software engineer at Palo Alto Research Centre of Xerox Corporation where she was later in the management training program and top 10 sales managers for Xerox high speed printer products.

Dr Rumen Tomov, Senior Researcher at Ever Resource

Rumen holds a PhD degree from the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. He joined the University of Cambridge as Research Associate in November 1999. His research interest is focused in the field of functional materials for energy generation and storage technologies with emphasis on nano-structured electrodes for secondary batteries and fuel cells, and battery recycling technology. Rumen has published over 70 scientific papers in refereed journals and is a Guest Editor of Nanomaterials Journal.

Dr Hideaki Page, Senior Researcher at Ever Resource

Hideaki is a physicist with a PhD in Physics from the University of Surrey. He is an entrepreneur, inventor and industrial physicist possessing 15+ years of experience in research and development; conception, creation and design of novel technology; and project management. His technology expertise includes optics, lasers and detectors; semiconductors; and Terahertz systems. Hideaki joined Ever Resource to work on battery sorting, detection and discharging technologies particularly in relation to lithium-ion batteries.

Dr Marcel Yiao, Researcher at Ever Resource

Marcel is a PhD graduate from the Materials Science & Metallurgy Department of the University of Cambridge. He worked on the hydrometallurcical processing of lead-acid battery paste, in Professor Kumar’s research group, as EPSRC Fellow between 2018 and 2019. Marcel joined Ever Resource as a contract researcher to work on the group’s circular economy projects. His expertise in chemistry and inorganic synthesis has enabled Marcel to contribute broadly across our research and innovation programme.
